Hi, I submited a story a few days ago but it was never published. I guess it was my poor language? Now perhaps i shall give a shot again. This story is based on my true encounter =)
I have read a new story submitted by a 13 year old story entitled Spooky Oh wow.
Thats was a similiar experience that i had encountered a few years back, when my bedroom was besides the corridor.
It was the seventh month on the chinese lunar calender, when people would call it the HUNGRY GHOST FESTIVAL. I would still remember very clearly that it occured during that time, around 1 to 2 am in the dead hours of the night.
I wouldnt get to sleep that night. As i was staring at the ceiling, i would gradually hear sounds of DOZENS of children playing somewhere beneath my block. I would hear cheering, shouting from dozens of kids. What left me with deep imppression was what they shouted : JIA YOU JIA YOU (which means add oil in chinese. I dont know whats the english translation.) then followed by yeahhh!.
Of course, i was shocked, why would any parents allowed their children to play downstairs at dead hours of the night?? Furthermore its the hungry ghost festivel, a taboo for many chinese folks.
You know, hearing so many kids playing, shouting, cheering.. my goodness. It seems that they enjoyed to play in our mortal world?
That night i would not get to sleep. I hugged my bolster tightly to me. I knew they are kids, but my fear overpowered me. Not knowing how long it has past.. the cheering gradually faded.
Of course. I immediately tried my best to sleep.
The next morning, i enquired my family members whether they have heard the cheering. They said NO.
Their cheerfulness certainly left a deep impression... I would still remember the cheers..
Well..at least i know that i am not the only one hearing these cheers..the author of SPOOKY OH WOW also have heard it..
=)
