In March of 1997 I learned I was pregnant. My boyfriend and I had moved from British Columbia back to Ontario where I was from to live with my mother. My boyfriend and I split up two months after that. I still kept my bedroom in the basement of our house which was right under the main entrance upstairs. This first thing that made me wonder about our house was footsteps.
When I was pregnant, I would stay up all night and sleep all day. It was about three o'clock in the morning. I was just going to bed. I hadn't even turned off my light yet so I know that I wasn't dreaming. I was just laying down when I heard the front door open. I thought it might be my stepfather coming home from the bush where he works.
I listened to the footsteps. They made a circle around the dining room, into the kitchen, then back to the entry way. The door opened and the footsteps dissappeared. Now, nothing was missing from the house, my stepfather never came home, and you can here a baby walking up and down the steps of our deck. I heard nothing after the door closed.
The next strange thing was that my mother could hear the pump running in our basement. She checked the whole house and could not find any running water to make the pump keep going. She finally gave up and went to bed. The next morning, she went outside and someone had crawled under the deck, turned on the hose, and cut our garden hose. They left it sitting right at the bottom of the steps of the deck, water running everywhere.
Now that may sound like a prank from some kid, but that winter, after I had my son, something really strange happened. We have a deck on the front of our house and a large septic field in the back. I live in north western Ontario, so we had about four feet of snow on the lawn. We cannot walk on the septic field in the winter or it will freeze so there were no tracks whatsoever on the field.
My boyfriend and I got up one morning and one of the plastic patio chairs that were located on the deck at the front of the house, was now standing straight up facing out in the middle of the septic field. There was no way possible that the wind could have blown it there. Even if somehow it had, there would have been tracks. That's the strange part. There was no tracks anywhere around or on the septic field. How did that chair get there?
Believe it or not, there is more. My son is now a year old. A month ago, I bought him a toy plastic cellular phone. He broke it in about a week. It was supposed to play music and make beeping noises. My boyfriend and his best friend tried over and over to fix it but it would not work at all.
One night, we had just gone to bed and the phone starting playing music. As soon as it started playing, the dog jumped up and ran into our room. We thought that the dog stepped on it, and somehow made it work. But the next morning, I was the first one up and I checked to see where the phone was. It was on top of the bar. No one had touched it. It just started playing all by itself.
One more thing, I was down hear on the computer one night. I am a smoker but I smoke in my office all the time and nothing has ever happened. The smoke detector had brand new batteries in it. I was typing away about 11 pm when all of a sudden the smoke detector starting going off. It has a totally different sound if the batteries are low so I know that wasn't it. It just rang for about a minute and a half then shut off all by itself.
I am led to believe that my house is definitely haunted.
