Feast of the Demon

Deep inside the cave lurks a strange creature, and every 10 years it gets to feed… “Jenny, Jenny.” A faint mysterious voice called out to me. I followed the voice deeper into the cave. I waved my flashlight all around the cave, desperate to find out where the voice is coming from. Suddenly, I saw a transparent figure in front of me. “Who’s there?” I asked in a frightened voice. “Jenny, be aware of the creature that lurks within this cave.” The figure told me. “What are you talking about?” I asked more seriously. “What creature…and who are you… how did you know my name?” “I’m Max. I’ve died 10 years ago.” He answered. “I’m here to warn you to beware of the creature that lives within this cave. It feasts every 10 years and today is when it feasts once again, just like 10 years ago.” As he spoke he started to fade away. “No, don’t go yet. What is this creature?” I asked, but he was gone. I woke up in the middle of the night, breathing heavily. I looked around the cabin to check if everyone was asleep. I fell back on my bed and rolled onto my side, thinking about the dream. But I decided to think about hiking tomorrow for our last day at camp. The next morning I woke up, I was anxious to go hiking. I got dressed and stepped outside into the cool morning air. I saw Anna and Tracey picking up twigs, to make a fire, by the woods. As I approached them someone kissed me on the cheek, I looked around to find Alex standing beside me. “Morning.” He said. “Oh, it’s you. Morning.” I replied. He held my hand as we walked towards Anna and Tracey. They said ‘morning’ to both of us as we approached. “I see love is in the air quite early today.” Anna teased. “Oh, shut up.” I snapped as I moved myself closer to Alex’s arm. “You two better eat your breakfast, because we’re going hiking in 30 minutes and won’t be coming back till night time.” Tracey told us. “Yes, Madam.” I said teasingly and walked off with Alex to get our breakfast. I packed up all the items I thought was necessary for the hike, after breakfast. Everyone in the campsite met at the edge of the woods, the teachers were telling us about the rules of hiking, most of the people ignored the teacher and started talking about doing pranks on each other. After a whole lecture of rules, we finally made our way into the woods. We got to see all kinds of stuff in the woods, it was making me forget about the dream I had last night. We were eating marshmallow around the fire, we just made, when a teacher came up to us and asked “Have you guys seen Michael and Jack?” “No.” I answered. “If you see them tell me.” He said and walked away. “Where could they have gone?” Tracey asked. “Maybe they’re pulling a prank as usual.” Anna said. “I’m not sure about that, I haven’t seen them when we were in the forest.” I said uncertainly. “They’re fine.” Alex spoke up all of a sudden “they’re prankster remember.” The sky was starting to darken and the air was getting colder. The teachers informed us that it is time to go back to the campsite. As we made our way back to the campsite I eavesdrop in some conversation of other students and teachers. “We must send a search party to find the boys…” said a teacher. “I hope there are no more students that are going to be missing.” said another teacher. A second later a student came up to her and reported that 3 more students are missing. Due to this news everyone hurried to get back to the campsite. “This is horrible, right Alex.” I whispered to Alex, but there was no replied. “Alex?” I turned around to find that he was missing. “ALEX, don’t play around.” But there was no sound of Alex anywhere to be heard. “Jenny common we have to hurry back to the campsite.” Tracey said. “A-Alex i-is gone.” I stammered as tears fell out of my eyes. “What! Alex is gone too?” Anna said with a shocked face. “I got to find him.” I said with confidence. “Are you mad?” Tracey exclaimed. “Let’s go tell the teacher instead.” Anna tried to coax me. “Fine.” I agreed. We tried to find the teachers, but they were no where to be found. Not only have the teachers gone missing, the whole group is gone too. “Oh no we are sooo lost.” Anna cried. “No, this can’t be. We can’t be lost. Everyone was just here a while ago.” I clarified. “We must go and find the group again.” Tracey suggested. Anna agreed and followed her. I waited as Anna and Tracey were out of sight; I started to dash back to where Alex had gone missing. I search the area to see if there was any clue on how Alex had gone missing. I discovered that there were traces of blood on the trees and the grass. I followed the traces of blood until I reached an opening to a cave. The blood traces leads right into the depths of the cave. I stood there, as a cold wind blew against my hair, I was remembering the dream I had last night. Frightened as I was, I knew Alex was inside the cave waiting for me to save him. I took out my flashlight and made my way into the cave, ignoring the warning from Max. There were more puddles of blood as I walked deeper and deeper into the cold, quiet cave. It seemed like hours walking into the endless cave. Suddenly I hit something with my leg; I shone the flashlight onto the ground to check what it was and I let out a high–pitched scream that echoed throughout the cave. There lay on the blood-soaked ground was the head of Max all rotten, but some parts were still preserved. I was unable to talk or move, I stood there still as a statue. But I thought to myself I must go on, I must find Alex. So I kept moving deeper into the cave. There was a stench of rotten odor in the air as I reached an iron rectangular door. I let out another high-pitched scream as I saw rotten body parts lying on the ground beside the door. ‘I wish I had company’ I thought to myself. ‘I wish I was back at the camp fire with my friends and Alex was safe beside me. No I came this far I can’t just give up, I will find Alex.’ I stretched out my shaking hands and reached for the doorknob. I started turning the doorknob slowly, as the door slowly creak open the stench of blood and flesh rushed to my nose. I vomited right at the spot; the smell was so horrible that tears ran down my eyes. I plugged my nose and open the door wider. I stepped inside to find that the room was lit with a glowing green fire. I dropped my flashlight when I saw Michael’s body hanging on a rope with a split abdomen and some of his organs hanging out. I covered my mouth as I saw only half of Jack’s body. I looked around and saw other bodies of other camp members. Then, there in the little corner laid Alex, I ran towards him, stumbling along the way. I knelt down beside him and touched his smooth cheek, wishing that he was alive. I saw deep piercing holes on his head, and knew that I was too late to save him. I started to cry, but something slashed at my arm and threw me against the wall. Pain shot up to my head and I let out an agonizing scream. “Well, well, well, wat haf weh here?” said a harsh, evil voice. “WHO ARE YOU WHAT DO YOU WANT!?” I screamed still clutching my arm as I looked up to see what had attacked me. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!” I screamed my loudest out of all the screams as I saw the face of the creature. The creature had devil like horns, razor sharp claws, wings like a bats, and teeth of a T-Rex. But most of all the crimson eyes of the demon which contains strong demonic aura around it, as it stared at me. “Hoo am I u axe?” said the creature as it moves around in its scaly black skin. “Well, I’m a demon uff corse.” I couldn’t take my eyes off the demon, I was shaking all over. I wanted to run away as far from this place as possible, but I was unable to move. Although I was paralyzed I was still able to speak, I wanted to stall more time for me to make a swift escape. “Why did you have to kill these innocent people?” I began. “Hehehe.” He laughed wickedly. “Tis is because every tin years I cum out of hibernation hungry and dieing for fud to eat.” “Why can’t you just eat other animals instead of humans?” I asked still trying not to look at the demon’s eyes. “Tat is because u hu-mans provide a special type uff power for demons to survive for eternity.” The demon answered. “But in order to live for eternity we have to keep feeding on hu-mans every tin years, we demons call this ‘the feast of the demon’.” I was still in too much pain to move towards the door. ‘I have to keep on stalling so I can make an escape’ I thought. ‘I’m so sorry Alex… Alex!’ “How did Alex got caught without me noticing?” I blurted out. “Oh…he wus just trying to save your life, that’s all.” The demon explained. “If it wusn’t for him, u wuld haf been dead instead. He jumped in the way when I swuuped down and tried to grabbed you. Butt since u’re here u’re going to die anywayz.” The demon started to laugh manically; he was obviously out of control. ‘This is my chance.’ I thought. I got up slowly and made my way towards the door. Once I was out I started to run gripping to my arm and feeling the walls for direction, since I have forgotten my flashlight back in the room where the demon was still laughing. While I was half way out of the cave the laugh had suddenly stop. I knew at that moment I should quicken my pace. I could see the exit in front of me, ‘a few more paces and I will be free.’ I thought. There were two figures at the cave entrance I recognize them they were Anna and Tracey. “Help, please help me. Anna, Tracey it’s me!” I shouted. They both turned around and looked at me. They started to run towards me. “I am so happy you two are her—“ Before I finished my sentence Anna had stabbed me in the abdomen with a pocket knife. Both of their faces were filled with tears. “How come?” I asked in a low voice. “We’re really s-s-sorry J-Jenny, but when y-you d-ditched us, the demon caught us and we k-kinda made a d-deal with him.” Anna stammered over her tears. “What deal?” I asked now falling on my knee. “The deal is to b-bring a person for the demon to have his feast and you’re the first person we saw, I’m sorry Jenny.” Tracey stammered a little. “We’re sorry.” They said together. Suddenly I felt a sharp claw dig right through my left chest and everything went pitch black, darker then the darkness of the cave. The last words I heard was, “Let the feast begin!”
