Shadow

submitted by lafanda

It all started when my mom started working for my aunt. My mom's first day there, she met a nice women-Susie(not really her name). Anyway, we invited her and her family over for a cook-out. After dinner, we sat out on the deck and told ghost stories. Susie's daughter started telling her story about how their house was haunted. She swore she was telling the truth-even her parents...

The family had decided to move closer to where Susie worked. They had been looking for a while and had finally found a nice house. About a week after the move, when they had finally got everything together, strange things began to happen. One night Susie's husband had to work overtime, so Susie was alone with her daughters. The kids were in bed, so Susie decided to watch TV. About an hour later, she heard a noise-like someone was crying. The noise suddenly stopped, but Susie still went to check on the kids. They were sound asleep. She went back to watch TV for a little while longer. About 45 minutes later, she got tired and went to bed. In the middle of the night, she awoke and noticed that her husband still wasn't home. She fell back asleep, and woke up shortly after to, again, the sound of crying. She looked around and couldn't believer her eyes. There in the dark corner of her room, was a shadowy figure curled up on the floor weeping. Scared to death, she closed her eyes and covered her head with her blanket, and the noise stopped. She peeked out from under the blanked and saw that the shadow had disappeared.

The next morning, Susie told her family about her terrible and frightening incident, the night before. They didn't believe her and assumed she was dreaming. Soon after that, a similar event had occured. One night, while Susie, and her husband were in bed, they heard the sound of footsteps. They thought it was just their daughters getting up to get something, and went back to bed. Later that night, they both awoke hearing more footsteps. Her husband got out of bed to check on the girls, but again they were both asleep. As her husband was walking back to their bedroom, he heard his wife's shrieking scream. He ran into the room, and standing in the corner, was the same shadow, Susie had seen earlier that week. Trying to protect his wife, the husband went into the closet to find something to make the shadow leave, but when he came out of the closet, the figure turned around and walked out of the door. Susie's husband ran to the door, but when he looked out, nothing was there. Again, the shadow had disappeared. The next morning, they told their children about what had happened, but they still didn't believe. Later that day, after school, Bella (not real name),the oldest daughter was sitting in the office doing her homework. she suddenly felt a cold chill run down her back. She turned around, and there was the shadow staring at her. Bella screamed and ran to the corner. Her parents rushed in, but the shadow had vanished before they reached the office. She told her parents what she saw, and they knew it had been the same shadow from before. The youngest daughter now had to believe because everyone else in her family had experienced it.

The family began to have second thoughts about living in the house, so they went to a neighbor seeking help and/or information. The nice, old woman that they went to, gave them only some information about the shadow, but it helped them greatly. The woman told them that the family who had lived there earlier had left the house because of the same experiences. She also told them that the family before that had been related to a man who had been hung in the garage of the house that Susie and her family are living in. The old woman told them that the shadow was the man who had been hung and that he wouldn't hurt them, but only try to communicate with them.

Still, to this day, Susie and her family live in that same house and see the shadow every now and then. They wave to him and he waves back, knowing that he will not hurt them, and sometimes he even joins them for dinner.

Now, do you believe this story? Or do you think it is fiction? I know I believe it. Now, do you???
