Growing pains are tough to have
I know, I've had them, too
When I couldn't do just what I wanted
I erupted, then I flew
When their attitude is awful
And you want to punch their lights
Just let them know you love them
And bite your tongue real tight
There are rules that must be followed
If they want to stay there, as before
And if their attitude still stinks
Then show them to the door
Go about your business
And let them do their thing
They want to tie and to untie
That dreaded apron string
Don't be just an ATM
Or mall or grocery store
Just let them know you love them
And then don't do that any more
They have two feet on which to stand
I'm sure you've shown them how
They may fall down, but they'll get up
Just let them do it now
They'll grow up in spite of you
And they'll probably turn out well
Even if, at this time
They're giving you pure hell
Growing pains are tough to have
I know, I've seen them, too
And when complaining to my folks 'bout my kid
They said, And he's so much nicer than were you!
