He loved his wife and raised ten kids
He labored hard and years for this
He loved his god with all his might
and taught us children 'bout wrong and right
He loved us all in his own way
and tried to show it every day
Then came the day us kids were grown
he and his bride were left alone
Then it came like a gentle wind
and slowly took his mind from him
Alzhiemers sickness it was called
that never goes away at all
All us children gather 'round
no happy faces to be found
We talk of things that might have been
but mostly how to care for him
Now our dad is like a child
and family members reconciled
to live our lives the best we can
knowing well he's in God's hands
It should have been their golden years
but instead.. great pain and tears
Our little mother is left alone
with precious memories all her own
Watching our loved ones slip away
brings brand new heartaches every day
Oh the empty helplessness we feel
and the time isn't yet for us to heal
A private hell it is for sure
May God help someone to find a cure
Til then we pray for all of you
who wait and hurt the way we do
