Oh! That mosquito! Though so small,
The fiercest predator of all!
For though her bite might pass unfelt
She’ll leave infection, sorely dealt,
To haunt us through our passing years
With fevers, aches, recurring tears!
No lover is the noxious fly,
Her kiss has caused the best to die,
And all must needs beware the sting
Of that voracious, flying thing!
She is the enemy of man;
A buzzing, biting harridan!
