It's deep and it's cold, has no bottom I'm told.
That's where it mus have been spawned
A monster I fear, is lurking down there
Down deep in the Greers' pasture pond.
I saw it on day, as I walked by the way.
One morning, just about dawn
It skimmed on the top, then made a big flop
It was two, maybe three fathoms long.
It can't be a fish, makes a sound like a hisss,
And the fish all seem to be gone
It ate them I fear, so please don't go near
Down at the Greers's pasture pond.
It's ten feet or more and it's looks I abhor
In hell, it would have been scorned
So please stay away, near the pond nerver play
Or you might be a meal, this I warn.
Twelve feet at least, has a head like a beast
Skims the surface each morning at dawn
Out back, don't get caught, with fear I am fraught
I found flipper prints up on the lawn.
Of it's lenght I'm not sure, twenty feet pretty near
It's scary, I'll tell you that
From the pond will I stay, quite far away
By the way, have you seen the Greer's cat?
Unless you are bold, heed this warning I've told
I'll tell you quite frankly my friend
If you don't watch you way, near the pond you might stray
And Greer pond could be your last end.
