With acknowledgement to John Baker for What Is Wrong?
When you look at the world with a tolerant eye,
And you're sure that you've fought a good fight;
When you know that you've given the best that you can
And the path that you followed was right;
When you relish the pleasures you knew in your youth
And your memories, so fresh, still excite;
Though you know that your life must soon come to an end
You remember a past that was bright.
When you look at your life like a favourite book
And you read it again with delight;
And you're pleased with the chapters you wrote through the years,
And you feel neither sad nor contrite
When you recall the music of years that have passed
And you look at your life, page by page,
You'll be proud of the legacy left to the young;
You'll rejoice in the grandeur of age!
