Return from war meant end of strife.
Diligence earned your college degree.
A warm, loving girl became your wife,
Children and grandchildren your posterity.
Everything needed for worth in life
to carry you through 'fore eternity.
You knew happiness in career, until
youths handed out the redundancy order.
This had to be the most bitter pill,
It's your age, they said, becoming bolder.
There is one comforting thought, still.
The young don't get younger, only older.
