I have often thought, How would it be
If the earth had more than one of me,
Say thirty-eight souls or merely three?
I sense this heart unique and alone,
But a pinch of flesh or dash of bone
Could triple the count via the clone.
I'm John; no, I'm John. Tally me near!
Two echo my name which I hold dear.
Three in one coat, is that what I hear?
Or one split as three--my greatest fear?
