Looking forward to fifty years,
Seems like an eternity.
But looking back you marvel at
How quickly the time did flee.
We were young when we made our vows,
To love and honor and cherish.
We didn't know what the future held,
As we floated into our marriage.
Our hopes were high, we had no doubt
That our lives would blend perfectly,
If we always practiced the virtues,
Of love, trust and honesty.
We added to these, understanding,
And complete fidelity,
Combined with abundant patience,
To help our marriage succeed.
God blessed our years together,
With a family beyond compare,
Who show us each day by their actions,
We can count on them to be there.
Now, when we're asked the secret
Of staying in love for life.
We simply say live your values,
And respect one another's rights.
If I had it all to live over,
I know just what I would do.
I'd make the same choice I made then,
To spend my life with you.
