First Wife

My first loving wife,
was met on a date.
Prearranged by her cousin,
not of chance, but of fate.
I called her by phone,
to arrange that date.
Never a thought in mind,
one day she'd be my mate.
Arriving at the home,
of her sister that day.
Calling upon a young lady,
there for a visit she stay.
She appeared at the doorway,
blonde hair in its glory.
Beautiful face with blue eyes,
an unwritten love story.
As my bewildered eyes,
drank of her charms.
I looked to the moment,
I'd hold her in my arms.
Dressed in full tail,
a dress all in blue.
Wearing white socks
and a stylish shoe.
We drove down the highway,
little conversation at first.
Though of her sweet lips,
mine surely did thirst.
She slid across the seat,
next to my side.
My heart skipped a beat,
a blush not to hide.
I felt I had been blessed,
the Heavens smiled down.
To what I the honor,
our hearts should be bound.
We went to the drive-in,
stylish dating in those days.
Privacy with surroundings,
security in its ways.
There our interests,
turned from the show.
Hugging and kissing,
each better to know.
When the show was over,
the evening no more.
I returned her home,
to her sisters front door.
There we embraced once again,
and kissed goodnight.
The foundation had been laid,
I knew of my plight.
